Google’s Android Auto recently introduced some new features, one coming soon. Recently, an Android Auto user discovered a new feature called “Media Pick”.
Post to Reddit (via Android police), This new option appears randomly to this one user, suggesting that it could be some sort of A / B testing. At first glance, this doesn’t seem to be very widespread.
This new “Media Pick” menu in Android Auto acts as a pop-up for your map and other apps, perhaps pulling audio content recommendations from the app on your device. For this user, most of these recommendations seem to come from Spotify, but there are also “news” assistant triggers.
To access this feature, a dedicated button has been added to the Android Auto dock between the media control and the notification button. Buttons have musical notes as icons. When the UI is pulled up, arrows will appear on both sides for navigation. Pressing one of the recommendations will cause the menu to disappear and the window to disappear.
This user also notes that there was no way to disable the feature found at this point. If you see this feature, please let us know by dropping a comment below.
