Apple is under fire for apparent sexist iOS emoji suggestions – The Apple Post (registration) (blog)

Apple is facing criticism as iOS users are noticing that when leadership roles such as “ceo,” “cfo” or “cto” are typed into the keyboard of an iPhone or iPad, Apple’s emoji suggestions are only showing male characters — even if you include a gendered context word like “she’s” in the sentence you’re composing reports Mashable.

Recently Apple has been adding a wide range of new emoji characters into iOS and macOS, with the release of iOS 10.2 in December bringing over 100 new and improved emoji characters to Apple’s mobile platform.

Despite this discovery, Apple is leading the way in diversity when it comes to emoji. It should be noted that a female business women emoji does appear when users tap iOS 10’s emoji replacement tool for the word ‘ceo’ however, the lack of the character within the iOS keyboard is upsetting some.
