Build the ultimate gaming setup with Philips Hue lights – digitalspy.com

What with Sony and Microsoft releasing the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X games consoles later on in November, you might have been thinking of different ways you can celebrate this big gaming occasion with a few upgrades.

You’ve bought a 4K TV, you’ve got a new controller or nice headset to talk to your mates online, but what if we told you there’s a way to enhance the immersion of your gaming experience with lights?

Philips Hue is offering impressive light strips and lamps that can be synced up to your TV, emitting bright lights that match whatever is happening on screen in real time.

You’ve likely seen a few Twitch streamers with glowing lamps or light strips that ebb and flow across a rainbow of colours, but these bulbs will directly copy whatever colours are on the screen, broadcasting them onto the wall for total immersion.

Picture the flashing of a deep red across your room as the siren blares in the AC130 when you’re dropping into the Warzone map in Call of Duty Modern Warfare, or the gentle purple and green hue as you explore the jungles in Ori and the Will of the Wisp.

There are three different components to getting this dream gaming setup in your own living room, and the first is this Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box. Going for around £229.99, it will allow you to sync up any of your Philips smart lights to your TV, imbuing your room with whatever is happening in a wide array of colours.

You can use the box to brighten or dim the power of the lights for a more subtle approach, or just set the mood with a certain colour.

The Philips Hue Bloom lamp is £69.99 from most retailers, and acts as a bed-side lamp or standing light to fill the room with whatever light you choose.

If you pair it up with the Sync Box you can sync your TV to the lamp and have it light up with the same lights as your TV.

Or you can go for the full experience, picking up the Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip (RRP £159.99). This will attach to the back of your TV (so long as it’s between 55″ and 65″) and run along the top and sides to beam out the light directly from the edges of your screen.
