Chaffetz: Americans may need to choose between iPhone or healthcare – The Hill

“You know what, Americans have choices. And they’ve got to make a choice,” the House Oversight Committee chairman told CNN’s “New Day,” one day after the House GOP unveiled its plan to replace ObamaCare.

“And so maybe, rather than getting that new iPhone that they just love and they want to spend hundreds of dollars on, maybe they should invest in their own healthcare.”

Republicans on Monday rolled out two new measures to repeal and replace ObamaCare after weeks of anticipation.

The new legislation would create a tax credit system to incentivize individuals to purchase health insurance.

Chaffetz said the plan eliminates parts of ObamaCare that “people said that they don’t want,” referring to the individual mandate which requires people to purchase health coverage or pay a fine.
