Artist David Hockney has unveiled his new high-tech art created on his phone and tablet after swapping his paintbrush for his iPad.

The 82-year-old spent much of his time between 2009 and 2012 capturing the scenes from a window in his former home in Yorkshire.

But now 120 of the creations are set to be unveiled for the very first time next month in the major publication of David Hockney: My Window.

Fourty-four of the images were created on Hockney’s iPhone and the rest on his iPad.

Some of the compositions are more abstract than others but all feature the artist’s signature vibrant colour palette.

The focus of the compositions vary to include a vase of flowers on his windowsill to the nearby houses spotted through the blinds.

Speaking to The Guardian about the collection, he said: ‘For me, it’s really the joy of looking out into the world and getting this positive energy.’

The artist was enthused by the discovery that he could create artworks from the comfort of his bed when he discovered the creative technology.
