AnTuTu’s latest benchmarking results show Vivo Nex 3 5G dominating the charts, beating OnePlus and other gaming phones. The leading phones use the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset.
- Vivo’s Nex 3 5G is the top-performing smartphone on its benchmarks with a score of 482917.
- The iQOO Pro 5G sits happily with a score of 481997.
- The mighty Asus ROG Phone 2 comes in at fifth with an overall score of 477596.
We often keep on saying that benchmark scores don’t tell the whole story and one shouldn’t consider these scores while buying smartphones. That’s because these figures depict those moments when a phone has been put to the perfect conditions just to gauge the performance levels. Hence, the real-world performance is all that matters. That said, for the number-crunching geeks, benchmark scores do make some impression and if you belong to that group, then AnTuTu has released its latest chart for October.
The AnTuTu benchmark comprises of a series of tests that measures all-round performance. And usually, it has been dominated by the gaming smartphones that come with boosted chips and tweaked software. However, for the month of October, the gaming phones take a backseat and some flagship phones have come to the forefront. But the one that’s leading the charts this month is a concept phone. And it’s from Vivo.
Yes, according to the AnTuTu charts, Vivo’s Nex 3 5G is the top-performing smartphone on its benchmarks, beating everything with a score of 482917. That’s seconded by another phone from Vivo’s stable, which is the iQOO Pro 5G and sits happily with a score of 481997. For those who don’t know, the iQOO Pro 5G is Vivo’s gaming phone that focuses on performance with a tweaked hardware. Both these phones use the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset.
The third spot is occupied by the OnePlus 7T, which also runs on the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. This new OnePlus phone achieves a score of 481784. What’s surprising is that the flagship OnePlus device, the OnePlus 7T Pro, only manages to score 480902, thereby securing the fourth spot. The mighty Asus ROG Phone 2 comes in at fifth with an overall score of 477596.
Rest of the phones in the ascending order include the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G, Black Shark 2 Pro, Realme X2 Pro, Meizu 16s Pro and the Redmi K20 Pro Premium.
What’s notable is that all the top 10 smartphones on AnTuTu’s list are powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. This chipset was meant for gaming smartphones with an overclocked CPU and a boosted Adreno GPU. Qualcomm says the chip offers an improvement of four per cent for CPU performance and 15 per cent for GPU performance. While that sounds little on paper, it does affect the benchmark scores massively.
