SALISBURY, Md. – Sheriff Mike Lewis announced on Tuesday the release of a new mobile app for the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.
We’re told the app was made possible with grant funding through the Wicomico County Local Management Board. The app is available as a free download from the iPhone and Android app stores and allows citizens to receive up-to-the-minute alerts, news, and resources important to the public safety of the county.
In addition, the following features are available in the app:
- Wicomico County’s Most Wanted fugitives: photos, physical details, date of birth, last known address, and warrant charges are listed. If you see any of these fugitives, do not try to apprehend them; instead use the Submit a Tip feature to send an anonymous tip to the sheriff’s office
- Submit a Tip: submit a crime tip directly to the sheriff’s office anonymously or with your contact information
- Search a map of sex offenders in Wicomico County: this interactive feature is searchable by location or by name of offender; features details on each offender including name, photo, age, physical details, and nature of their offense
- Inmate search: sign up for a change of status/victim notifications through VINE
Other important features include a link to obtain crash reports, a map showing county officers, police, and fire departments, and a feed of most recent social media posts. The app also includes important COVID-19 resources, including access to CDC information and local COVID-19 news, statistics, and testing information.
“In today’s technology-oriented world, mobile apps are the most important and innovative way to communicate,” said Sheriff Lewis. “We have created the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office mobile app to keep our community informed and alerted to emergency situations, and to engage our citizens to be our partners in public safety. I encourage you to download our free app and share it with all of your contacts so that they can receive our important news and alerts.”
